I can’t help but notice how many more showings are popping up of silent movies presented with live music.
Without going into the details of when and where, it’s the need for this that strikes me. Because, the magic of combining a live musical performance with a silent moving image on screen, that tells a story, has a certain effect on people watching it. This effect is new. It’s enjoyable. It throws one into a world to where they didn’t expect to go. And they all seem, in my observation, to come out of it feeling much better when they went in – expressing awe and gratitude for the experience.
